Modernisation of Line A

Transport and Infrastructure
To support the modernization of Toulouse Metro Line A, Tisséo relied on the Mezzoteam platform to manage a particularly complex project carried out on an operational infrastructure.
The project aimed to sustainably increase the capacity of Line A by enabling 52-meter trains to operate, compared with 26 meters previously, in order to meet continuously growing passenger demand. The project also included bringing the infrastructure into compliance with new safety and accessibility requirements.
The works covered all 18 stations along the line, as well as the tunnels, technical equipment, and the Basso Cambo maintenance facility. Platform extensions, platform screen door adaptations, modernization of technical installations, smoke extraction systems, lighting, signage, accessibility improvements, and the extension of the maintenance workshop were among the many interventions that had to be carefully coordinated.
The main challenge was to carry out these works without causing prolonged disruption to metro operations. The teams had to plan and coordinate hundreds of activities while ensuring service continuity, passenger safety, and compliance with a particularly tight schedule, with service interruptions concentrated during the summer periods.
In this context, Mezzoteam enabled the project team to centralize project documentation, streamline communication and exchanges between the various stakeholders, ensure traceability of approvals, and facilitate the management of a project involving numerous disciplines and companies.
This project demonstrates Mezzoteam’s ability to support infrastructure modernization projects in the rail and urban transport sectors, including projects carried out on operational assets where coordination, safety, and service continuity requirements are particularly demanding.
