The SPIRAL2 project marked a major milestone in the development of GANIL, sustainably strengthening its position as a world-class reference facility in nuclear physics.
GANIL (Grand Accélérateur National d'Ions Lourds), a major research facility serving the French and European scientific communities, selected the Mezzoteam platform to support work coordination and document management throughout the program.
Launched in 2011 at the GANIL site in Caen, SPIRAL2 (System for the Production of Radioactive Ions in Line, 2nd generation) led to the creation of a next-generation linear particle accelerator. Given the scientific and technical scale of the project, the building's architecture was designed to meet exceptionally high requirements, incorporating Quality, Safety, and Environment (QSE) standards while ensuring optimal operating conditions for the facility.
The project also transformed the site's capacity, increasing its surface area from approximately 11,000 m² to nearly 20,000 m², providing GANIL with infrastructure suited to its research ambitions and future developments.
