Extension of Europe’s largest campus dedicated to electricity transmission

RTE’s Transfo Campus is now a leading example of the design and construction of campuses dedicated to training and innovation. Located in Jonage, in the Lyon metropolitan area, this 30,000 m² project has become the largest European campus dedicated to training and innovation in the field of electricity transmission. It welcomes 7,000 trainees, around one hundred trainers and numerous experts every year, all working on the technologies that will shape tomorrow’s electricity grids.
To deliver this ambitious project, Eiffage Construction, in partnership with Eiffage Énergie Systèmes, selected the Mezzoteam platform to centralise documents, streamline communications and ensure effective coordination between all stakeholders throughout the construction process.
Designed by AIA Life Designers, the campus stands out for its exemplary approach to sustainable construction. Its architecture combines timber façades and structures with innovative construction solutions, including mixed timber-concrete façades and concrete floors connected to timber frames, developed as part of an ATEx technical assessment process. These innovations helped meet the project’s technical requirements while reducing its environmental footprint.
The Eiffage Énergie Systèmes teams were responsible for all technical packages, including high- and low-voltage systems and HVAC, contributing to the building’s energy performance and the comfort of its future occupants.
The Transfo Campus also reflects a high level of environmental ambition. Designed as a genuine place for living and innovation, it has obtained several leading certifications and labels, including NF HQE Sustainable Building, Level 3 Biosourced Building, BiodiverCity and BEPOS Effinergie E3C1, confirming its status as an exemplary project in responsible construction.
