Construction of a natural history and civilizations museum

Building
Located at the confluence of the Rhône and Saône rivers, the Musée des Confluences is one of the major cultural and architectural projects completed in Lyon.
With over 20,000 m² dedicated to natural history, anthropology, societies, and civilizations, this iconic building aimed to create a new space for knowledge and discovery, capable of bridging the gap between science and society.
Designed by the Austrian firm Coop Himmelblau, under the direction of Wolf D. Prix, the museum is distinguished by its dynamic architecture, symbolized by the meeting of the "Crystal" and the "Cloud." This ambitious design, blending glass, steel, stainless steel, and concrete, required the coordination of numerous stakeholders and the management of a significant volume of technical information throughout the project.
In this complex context, the Mezzoteam platform supported the project teams in structuring, centralizing, and streamlining communication between the various participants. Digital document and data management helped secure the tracking of studies, technical contributions, and key construction milestones on a site involving multiple areas of expertise.
Delivered after several years of studies and construction, the Musée des Confluences opened its doors to the public on December 20, 2014. Even today, it embodies the success of a project where architectural innovation, collective coordination, and effective communication management were essential to bringing an exceptional achievement to life.
